How to Use Domain Locking to Secure Your Crezlo Virtual Tours

When you invest time into crafting a high-end virtual tour, you want to ensure it stays exactly where it belongs. Whether you are a real estate agent protecting your listings or a photographer managing client assets, Domain Locking is your digital "No Trespassing" sign.

Here is everything you need to know about how Crezlo keeps your content exclusive and secure.

What is Domain Locking?

In the world of virtual tours, Domain Locking (also known as Domain Whitelisting) is a security feature that restricts your tour from being embedded on unauthorized websites.

Without this protection, anyone with your tour's embed code could theoretically "steal" your work and host it on their own site without your permission. With Domain Locking active, the tour will only load if the web address (URL) matches the specific domains you’ve approved.

Why Use Domain Locking?

  • Brand Integrity: Ensure your tours only appear on your official business site or authorized partner sites.

  • Copyright Protection: Prevent competitors from using your high-quality visuals to boost their own traffic.

  • Monetization Control: If you sell virtual tours as a service, domain locking ensures the client only uses the tour on the site they paid for.

  • Bandwidth Management: Stop "leeching"—where other sites use your hosting resources to display content on their pages.

How to Set Up Domain Locking in Crezlo

Crezlo makes it incredibly simple to safeguard your tours. Follow these steps to secure your content:

  1. Access Tour Settings: Log into your Crezlo dashboard and select the specific virtual tour you wish to protect.

  2. Navigate to Share Settings: In the right-hand sidebar, click on the Share dropdown menu. This will reveal the embedding and security options.

  3. Enable Domain Restriction: Toggle the "Domain Lock" or "Restrict Embeds" switch to ON.

  4. Add Authorized Domains: Enter the URLs where you want the tour to be visible (e.g., youragency.com or zillow.com).

Note: You don't need to include "https://" or "www." Usually, the root domain (e.g., crezlo.com) will cover all subdomains.

  5. Save Changes: Hit "Publish" or "Update" to apply the locks instantly.

What Happens if Someone Tries to Steal Your Tour?

If an unauthorized user copies your embed code and places it on a site not listed in your "Approved" list, the Crezlo player will block the content. Instead of your beautiful 360° tour, the viewer will see a customizable error message

"Access Denied: This domain is not authorized to host this virtual tour."
