Disabling Viewer Zoom in virtual tour

Phase 1: Pre-Implementation Assessment

  • Audit Resolution: Verify the resolution of your $360^{\circ}$ panoramas. If the resolution is below $8\text{K}$, disabling zoom is recommended to prevent pixelation.

  • Define the "Golden Ratio": Identify the ideal Field of View (FOV) for your tour. Standard tours usually perform best at an FOV of $75$ to $90$.

Phase 2: Configuration & Locking

  • Interface Lock: Access the Crezlo Interaction Panel to toggle off mouse-wheel and pinch-to-zoom capabilities.

  • Parameter Synchronization: Set the min_fov and max_fov variables to equal values. This ensures that even if a browser-level override occurs, the camera remains static.

  • Hotspot Alignment: Ensure that your hotspots and navigation arrows are still easily clickable once the zoom is locked, as users will no longer be able to "zoom in" to click small targets.

Phase 3: Quality Assurance (QA)

  • Cross-Device Testing: * Desktop: Verify scroll-wheel inactivity.

    • Mobile: Test pinch-to-zoom gestures on iOS and Android.
  • UX Validation: Confirm that the inability to zoom doesn't hinder the user’s ability to read text or see crucial details in the virtual environment.
